I’ve noticed that most of the time when a movie is coming out based on a Marvel comic, the comic has a story involving something thats gonna appear in the movie. When the Spiderman movies came out, Green Goblin came back, Dr. Octopus resurfaced, and finally Spidey started wearing black. But with the Incredible Hulk coming out this month, the comic will not be bringing the Abomination back. Instead, he gets murdered in the first issue of the new Hulk series.
With one of Hulk’s greatest enemies shot dead by a large violent man (or thing) known only as Red Hulk, the task of figuring out the strange death and the identity of Red Hulk fall upon Doc Samson, She-Hulk, General Ross, and Ironman. And since then, Red Hulk has completely destroyed the new S.H.E.I.L.D. Hellicarrier, taken She-Hulk down for the count, and attacked Rick Jones and the Government Facility Bruce Banner is being held captive at ever since the events of World War Hulk.
But with that attack, Banner is freed and inadvertantly turned back to good ole green Hulk, the real fight is just about to begin. Not only that, but for those who watch McGuinness’s deviantart page may already know, Thor will soon enter the fray aswell. Speaking of McGuinness, while both the art by Ed and the story by Jeph Loeb are jam packed with action and mystery, this is neither creators’ best work. But neither is it their worst. The fight scenes have a big somewhat epic feel to them, and all the mystery surrounding Red Hulk has a feel similair to that of all the characters in Lost, with Loeb has been producing for afew years now.
If nothing else, its fun to speculate who Red Hulk is. So if all your sleuth skills aren’t being consumed by figuring out whos a Skrull in Secret Invasion this summer, why not pick up Hulk.
